Small-scale wind power is the wind generation systems with the capacity to produce up to 50 kW of electrical power. Isolated communities may use wind turbines to displace diesel fuel consumption. Individuals may purchase these systems to reduce or eliminate their dependence on grid electricity, or to reduce their carbon footprint. Compared to the environmental effects of traditional energy sources, the environmental effects of wind power are relatively minor. Wind power consumes no fuel, and emits no air pollution, unlike fossil fuel power sources. |
