A pellet stove is a stove that burns wood pellets or other biomass fuels to create a source of heat for both residential and industrial spaces. By slowly feeding fuel from a storage container (hopper) into a burn-pot area, they create a constant flame that requires little to no physical adjustments.
Pellet stoves burn pellets typically made from recycled wood shavings, sawdust, or corn.
Pellet stoves are very sophisticated combustion appliances, utilize electronically controlled combustion, blowers, and highly effective heat exchangers to provide reliable, low-cost heating with heating capacity of 8,000¨C90,000 BTUs per hour.
A variety of styles are available in both freestanding stoves and fireplace inserts.
The pellet stoves burn more efficiently and more cleanly than wood, offer 75-90% overall efficiency, and create much less ash than cord wood and produce far less creosote, a common wood stove and fireplace hazard that blackens glass doors and collects in chimneys, potentially causing chimney fires. |
